Cleaning Tail lights
87 monte...tail lights not looking too good inside. Mainly the reverse lights are well, burnt looking. I guess it could be dirt, but deff looks burnt. I rather buy "new" ones then unseal the housing and cleaning it and re-sealing unless I can get it cleaned without unsealing it....any suggestions?
As burnt as it looks, it's very possible that it could be dirt. I'd try removing the whole assy, dumping in some soap and water mix, and giving it a good shake. If it doesn't help it could be gooey due to leftover adhesive residue, in which there/s notmuch more you can do, otherthan physical scrubbing. A solvent may help, but, a solvent will eventually ruin the plastic, depending on the exposure time.
I had something like this built up in the insides of my Beretta's taillights, allthough it wasn't very noticable due to the smoked lenses. A little soap and water and direct scrubbing took it right off, allthough I needed a bit of adhesive remover for some tough areas.

clr works really well inside the taillamp and headlight asseblies when they get messy inside, just make sure when you put them back on to maybe put a little silicone around the plug in so they dont get messy in there again
