A nice fine steel wool like mrl390 said. I've been doing it for years, works wonders. just be careful around the plastic.

 

Yeah, water spots are my big thing. I've used the white vinegar and all with microfiber cloths.... nothing doing. The glass polish might be my next resort.. that NAPA link just goes to a store locator thingy.

I use Invisible Glass and wadded newspapers. Is it true that you should NEVER use terry cloth towels on your car? I read somewhere that anything but microfiber towels can cause swirl marks. My car has lots of these that won't come out no matter what cleaner I use. I'm going to clay bar in the spring - hope that does the trick. Any suggestions???

 

CLEAN terry cloths do not scratch.. they just leave tons of lint. Clay bar will not remove swirls. Only a buffer can remove them (Dual Action "Orbital" or Rotary/Circular Polishers)

Anything you put on the paint can scratch it.. even top notch microfiber, you just need to make sure its clean, and you use proper technique.

Here it is.

Any glass cleaner works, i used windex, stoner invisable glass, and rain x glass cleaner. As for a towel i use a special window towel. Found at you local kmart or walmart.

Now use 2 rags. The window towel and microfiber. Apply the cleaner and use the window towel to spread then follow with the micro.

Heres the trick.

Move your arm in a up and down, then side to side direction when spreading. Repeat the motion with the microfiber. This will prevent alot of streaks.

 

Too late for preventing stuff buddy. I'm trying to get rid of water stains caused by hard well water.

 

amonia free glass cleaner and a razor blade is the best thing

 

I use Stoners Invisible Glass too and can vouch for how great it is. I also use special blue cloths that are made for cleaning glass only (think I got them at Pepboys).
