Guide: Clean Your engine

Clean Your engine
First off, cover up your intake. Mines tucked away good so I didnt need to.
Get a degreaser/shine .. I got some black magic**, I recommend it. Im a fanboy of them lol.
1. Warm your engine up, not too hot but just get it warm to the touch. I drove mine and it sat in the shed a bit so it was warm.
2. Spray down your engine. Just lather it on, I did it a bit thinner but now I wish I put on more, I will have to next weekend.
Things to avoid dousing:
Alternator
PCM connection
Coil packs kinda
BELTS!!!!!!
3. Use a brush to get out the real caked on stuff and loose debris off.
4. Let it sit for 15 min, yes your impatient, I know I am too, I like paced and just walked around spraying things on our lawn with a hose, filled bird baths, the dog, etc.
5. Spray it down with water. Avoid the same things as step 2. Just let it run off or if you have a spray tip on it be smart, it will all come off easy with just a gentle stream.
6. Let it drip, go turn off the water and come back ( so you dont forget Mr. or Mrs, I have a cool spray nozzle) Set down the hood and start the car, make sure nothing is going nuts and leave it sit a while or until its dry with the hood down and the car running.
7. Wipe it down with a rag
8. Look at your beast and take pictures
Only before picture I could find.

i heard that its not the greatest to put your cold air down there because when it rains or you go through a puddle it can suck water into your cylinders.. yikes thats not good. does this seem like its subject to water? and did you use like a vacuum hose to lead it?

Its a large drain hose. And the way I figure, is your only gonna suck up water if you drive into a puddle. Regular rain isnt gonna make it up into that. Mabye If I was in 2 ft deep water it would suck in, but if Im that deep in water, my intake is the least of my worries! :O
Besides Im getting a ZZP intake soon.
