Default AutoWeek magazine scans: big article on new '95 MC & Lumina

We're going back to the '90s!

Here we have an article from May 1994, talking about the return of the Monte Carlo along with the revised Lumina.

Part of it is an interesting article about GM's Joe Spielman, the guy in charge of the Midsize Car Division at the time. I learned a few things...

More articles to come!

That's pretty interesting.
They mentioned the Impala SS I remember when it appeared as just the Caprice in 94 which resembled an old Hudson from the 40's and 50's this was an ugly ride for sure.
The first Monte that I had was a 96 that I bought for my son and he loved it. His friend had a T-bird from the same era and the Monte was such a better ride than the T-bird they preferred to take my sons car for all there excursions.
However today the 5th Gen Monte gets very little respect, I was visiting with a couple who had a 4th Gen at a Car Show in St. Louis last summer. they asked if I had a Monte I told him I have had 4 of them and the current one I own is the most hated of them all, they said, oh you got a 5th Gen now don't you?

good one keep it up!!

I wish they would have made a rear wheel drive option with a manual trans. That would have been highly sought after today.

The 5th gen was a beautiful car, even in Lumina form. It was the most beautiful W-body until the 97 Grand Prix came along.

The powertrain, however, deserves every bit of hatred it can accumulate, and then some.

I read a lot about the 6th and 7th Gen issues on here and am glad I don't have one of those.

Explain what to look for so I can be on the lookout? Thanks
