What is the widest tire you can put on a 20 X 8.5? I have 255's on it right now, and have been told that is the widest I can go with my wheels. But I just don't have enough meat in the back, and need to go as wide as possible. I have too much HP for 255's and there is nobody making a Drag Radial for 20's.

 

thought you had some one to reply tha tgavea link to the drag radials ? did they not work for ya?

Also i have 225 60 r16 on mine and belive me it is under 20" round and less then 8.5 wide at the rim.
we used to mount 50's on a 8 " wide wheel .
so i would get a second opnion on this one.

 

Yeah I had already checked MT. The ones the make in 20's are WAY TOO WIDE! I would have to tub my car, and buy much wider rims. Not something I want to do. So I'm just SOL for now on Drag Radials. Me and my buddy from Weld Wheels have contacted everybody. No luck.

So now I'm just trying to go as wide as possible, but I'm stuck with my 8.5 wheels.

 

im guessing you could go wider, if you went taller. with as short of sidewalls as you have im guessing theres only a couple choices of widths that would work. anything stickier in your current size? what tires and size are u running now? 255-??-20 ?

 

they look like 30's or 35's on there for the sidewall....can you fit a 45 on there??? because they probably make them for 45's as they're the most common sidewall you can get for 20's

They are 35's. I'm thinking seriously about selling the 20's and getting some 18 x 9.0's so I can go wider. But I really don't want to have to go through all of that.

 

if you chose to do that you could go with a lowering spring in the front or air shocks in the tail (how all the kids do it)
sorry to hear that you are coming to this conclusion.
you know the bad thing is with all of them coming out now I'm really surprised they don't have what your looking for in that size.
but the min. you sell then they will have them everywhere on the market.
