Default Tires

Was just wondering, back when i bought my first car a 69 Chevelle SS, Rims were in but tires with raised white lettering were in.I always thought they added something to the look of a sports car. But after looking at the Monte's in the photo Gallery i haven't seen one Monte with raised white lettering tires. I don't have them on my cay now but was thinging about it.

Maybe i'm just from the old school?
Any comments?

the monte's look good with the goodyear eagle 1 nascar tires, but good luck finding those, they only come in 16" and they're disconinued now, they originally came yellow, but then switched to white, so yellow is even more rare...i've been looking for a while and there's nothing for 17's cuz i have 17's on my monte

but those tires do look good on our car's

tirerack shows the 16" #1 nascar tires in stock, then theres also the eagle LS with outlined white letters that you can get in a 225-60-16 or in a 235-55-17, but not avalible in a 225-55-17

Saw the nascar tires at tirerack, they look nice. But are they a good all season tire. I need something that looks good but is good in the snow to. I don't really want two sets of tires, i got no place to store an extra set of tires.I'm still running the original 16 inch rims.

Thanks Guy's

i dont think theres too many tires that aren't all season anymore, even 20" tires for 20" rims are still all season now, i know most people dont use them all season, but some people do on like the ram's and the suv's that come stock with them

as far as the nascar tires being "a good all season tire" i'm sure its ok, but i'm sure you could do better for $109 ea. but it wouldnt be a white letter.

i think its an older design, maybe the oldest one they still make, and you can see the older goodyear tires that have ratings on tirerack ,eagle rs-a, eagle ga, conquest, integrity do pretty bad in the ratings. however the newer designs like the eagle responseedge, assurance tripletred, and comfortred do considerably better.

imo goodyears are overpriced anyways.
also look for the specials, i paid $77 ea. last year for some tires that are goin for $93 ea. now.

i think with those nascar tires your only paying for the name, thats why they're overpriced, if you looking for a cheap all season tire then check our falken or something, they have good prices on they're tires, but if your looking for something with white wall's i dont think they' have anything and you'll have to go for something a little higher end like good year or pirelli or something like those 2

What i don't want is a high performance tire. I had these before and they suck for traction even in light snow. That's why i was looking into the all season tires. I agree the goodyear tires seem overpriced.
Just was wondering what everyone else was running on there Monte's.

Thanks for the info

i'm still just running factory tires, i would think that those goodyear's would be good in the snow, goodyear is an awesome tire
