Default Tire Size for 18" Rims

Im Looking for new Tires for my 18" Rims.. there 7.5" wide.

I have 225 40 18 on now and I know that tire size it not the right ones.

I was going to get 225 45 18 but the tire tech said that its not the right tire and they wont mount it. He said they would have to be 225 50 18. They will fit but I think it will be to tall of a tire for my taste. He said that 245 45 18 they can also do.

Will a 245 45 18 tire rub at all and will it properly mount to a 7.5" wide rim

If you have stock struts it will rub on the strut plate, my 235 45 17s do, but other than that you should be fine.

I have 235's and they rub slightly on tight turns, 245's will def rub. I would think you would have no problem with the 225/45/18, I would take it to a diff shop and get a second opinion.

Basically the tire tech said that the tire wont support the weight of the car ie the weight index. He said that the car needs a 95W or higher. Maby its also because of the Tire I chose as well. Bridgestone Potenza RE 760 Sport. The weight limit on a 45 is 91W and the 50 is a 95W. The 245 45 18 has a 100W
