steel wheels with some good winter tires is probably the most traction you can ask for in winter weight is king. my dad used to put a few sand bags in the back of his 88 GT hatchback with the same winter tires the stateys use on the stock 15's and he said that was the best option (RWD). though you dont help with power traction with a fwd like our cars by putting sandbags in back

When I had the 98 Camaro, I used to put weight in the back because the distribution favored the front of the car.

On this new camaro, my weight distribution is 50/50 so I'm gonna see how well it handles the snow with just good tires.

I think to know for sure ill wait for the first snow and take her to a parking lot. Just avoid the parents house till I know how she will handle.

It's still not as good as snow tires. My Stang also has 50/50 weight distribution (or darn near close) but my stock all season Pirellie's suck so it's mandatory that I run snow tires in the winter. I'm already noticing suckiness on the cold damp surfaces now. I will plan on putting my snow tires/rims on right before our first major snowfall.

Oh I will have good tires on the car for the winter, I just meant adding weight to the rear, I'll hold off doing that until I see if I think I might need it.

This car doesn't need MORE weight

what my car needs right now is weight on the front. the gangster lean is killing traction. the new struts in the back in the spring cant come soon enough. I just hope my back springs aren't gonna be sagged too bad by then

Your words not mine
The Mustang is the lightest out of the bunch. With my snow tires I had no need to weigh down the trunk.

haha

I'm glad your Mustang is doing well in the weather, I have yet to get a real storm, but I'm hoping that this car is just as good of a tank as the Monte was.

I would never put chains on a car!

I second blizzaks or a great alternative to them are the winter force tires. There a little cheaper than blizzaks and work just as great (I've personally used them both) these should be all you need for winter driving and if these ain't good enough its time to either not drive or buy a 4 wheel drive or a snow mobile because the roads are to bad for any car.
