Default Spring is messed up

I started hearing some clanking noise the past couple days and finally saw what it was. The springs on the strut assemblies in the rear only are touching themselves (lol). I bought these KYB strut plus assemblies on November 29th about five months ago.

I got them from rockauto and I did just emailed them but i'm not sure if they will do anything. I took some pics with my phone... what are your thoughts on this?

Sorry for the ginormous pics

If the spring didn't break ,it must be a weak spring I never seen one look like that..

The spring on the other rear assembly is pretty much the same way.. about an 1/8th of an inch away from touching in the same point. Is this safe to drive?

might be a bad set off the line... were they like that when you got the spring assemblies? They definitely shouldn't be touching eachother, if they're not broken I think you may have a bad set of springs

it would probably be ok to drive.....but it will probably be a rough and noisey ride! (since there is some seperation in the other coils)

Id be tempted to put the old ones back on til you get it resolved by the auto parts or manufacturer.....

I tried to put on a new set of springs (from napa) but those were touching/bottoming out even worse. Then I saw that all the aftermarket ones kyb strut plus/napa's all had 7 coil springs. My stock ones only have 5. I put on my old assemblies back on and the problem was solved... for now.

I might put my old springs (which are probably fine) on my kyb struts themselves and get those aftermarket springs outta there

I'm still talking to kyb customer service... but Im not sure what to expect from them.

Really weird I'm the only one with this prob
