That is a good price for struts and springs. Alot of people use the GR2 struts and Ive heard nothing but good things about them. Im sorry but you dont need AGX struts on our montes. There is no need for an adjustable suspension on a 3500 lb daily driven car. You will pay the same or more for the AGXs alone that you will for the GR2s with springs.

When lowering a car, the idea is to match the spring rate with the dampening ability of the shocks. If the spring is stiffer than the struts the ride will be too bouncy or floaty. If the strut is stiffer than the spring the ride will be too harsh or rough. With AGX shocks you can use a wider variety of springs because you can dial in the dampening as needed to better match the springs being used. IMO, that's something well worth the added cost of going with AGX.
-= GR2 =-
GR2 is about 10-15% firmer than OEM shocks
GR2 can handle NO MORE than 50% of OEM spring rate
GR2 can handle around a mild drop of 1 to 1.5 inches
-= AGX =-
The AGX products have the following approximate damping force values. When adjusted, both rebound and compression damping forces change.
Setting #: Relative Value
1 - Same as Factory 100 (same as OEM)
2 - Same as GR2 115 (15% firmer than Factory)
3 - 50% firmer #2 172 (72% firmer than Factory)
4 - 30% firmer #3 223 (123% firmer than Factory)
-= 8 ways adjustable =-
Additional information provided by KYB on their product:
For an eight position adjustable product, the damping force values are approx. the following:
With #2 being Factory at a relative value of 100
#1 = 95 (5% softer than Factory)
#2 = 100 (Factory damping force)
#3 = 107.5 (7.5% firmer than Factory)
#4 = 115 (15% firmer than Factory)
#5 = 143.5 (43.5% firmer than Factory)
#6 = 172 (72% firmer than Factory)
#7 = 197.5 (97.5 firmer than Factory)
#8 = 223 (123 % firmer than Factory)
Hope these info helps.

I agree that GR2's are great as an OEM replacement, although I really can't feel a performance advantage to them- they feel pretty much exactly like stock to me.
I also think the AGX's are your only real choice if you want a 'performance' strut, unless you go custom.
Only reason I still have GR2's on the back of my monte is because they were free when I bought some used coilover mounts.
