Default Saw + Springs = Lowered ?

Can I just hack off an inch or two to the springs to lower the monte an inch in the rear, 2 inches in the front? Or is that just silly?

That's just silly.

It will "lower" your car, but it's going to be a horrible ride and you will potentially ruin your struts because they will be more likely to bottom out. Don't cheap out, especially on your nice 06 SS. Those Monte's are beautiful.

most cars now have progressive rate springs (like ours). older cars had single rate springs. in theory you could cut those and it wouldn't change the ride quality (as long a you cut it 1 full rotation at a time). you're still better off with lowering springs. it's an old hot rod trick that doesn't apply to cars nowadays.

so.........DONT CUT 'EM!
