Default rear shocks are clunking when cold

In the mornings I've noticed that the rear shocks are making a clunking noise. It's just starting to get cold in the mornings here in San Diego. I don't remember this issue from last winter. The internet tells me that cold struts can make noise like that until the oil in the struts gets warm/viscous enough. Does that make any sense? Is it time to replace the struts? '02 MCSS w/47K miles. Thanks

If the clunking continues, the struts would need to be replaced IMHO.

Well, ... the low-miles is a plus ...

Until you consider they're 14 years old.

Don't spend your hard-earned dough having new dampers put-in old struts.

Replace the tired, noisy struts with new ones that will improve your handling just as soon as you're done with the job!
