is it really worth it?

is it really worth it?
I have considered lowering my 98 monte Z34 by maybe just 1.5". First of all, would that really make a lot of difference in the handling, and secondly how much would I be spending to get this done? O and any reccomendations on brands would also be helpful. thanks.

from the sound of it, you want handling. so eibach is the way to go. they run about 250 for our cars for the springs. and then it would be smart to get new struts. KYB - GR2's are the strut of choice for the eibach's and 4 run about 250 also.
not sure how much installation would cost, but you can rent spring compressors from autozone if you are mech inclined and do it yourself.

I have the 1 1/2" lowered eibachs on my 02 with the KYB struts. I'm not sure which struts, they make two kinds. The ones I have are non-adjustable and are a replacement type. The others are adjustable and are more of a racing type, but are very expensive, around $250 each.
I have read where the stock type will cause a pogo'ing effect with the eibachs, but after 35,000 miles i have not experienced it at any time.
I love the ride and handling with this setup. Ride is still comfortable, but noticably stiffer. The handling was greatly improved.
I paid around $400 to have it all installed and a 4 wheel alignment. After 1000 miles they asked that I bring it back and so they could check the alingment after the springs had settled. That was free.
I also had 8.5 x 17 rims and 255/45 z rated Daytonas put on it at the same time.
