My sister on her (95?) grand am, shes having a problem. I talked to her on facebook about it, her description is :

Jessica is wondering why the brake system in her car failed...for the second time this year!

Me: Oh, I know.... your car has like 180,000 miles on it. Might be a giveaway. did you get them fixed after the first time? :-)

Jessica: Yep, new brakes, calipers (spelling?), drums, etc. Now, whenever I try to stop, my foot hits the floor of the car before the car starts to stop.




Any ideas on what might be doing it?

 

Brake fluid... The system probably needs to be bled and new fluid should be added. There might be a lot of air in the system.

 

Quick Short Anwser: Call her & tell her not to drive `it [8D]

Mike, I would have your sister take your Grand Am to a mechanic.

If she does not know how to check her brake fluid ? Have her check with friends that might know how to check it.

It could be just low on brake fluid, or a leak from one of the brake lines, or a bad master brake cylinder.

It is dangerous to drive the way it is....4-Sure.

I would advise her not to drive it until someone with knowledge checks it out.
