Performance Brake System with Big brake pads
I added 1,000 lbs of stereo equipment to my 2000 Monte carlo 3.8L. I upgraded the rear suspension and braking is ok. My 2010 Camaro stops really good and has big brake pads. On my monte, I want to upgrade front and rear disc brakes with bigger rotors and pads. Will probably need calipers too. Does anyone know what type I should use. I see 2000 monte carlo performance brakes on summit racing, but the rotors look small. Any suggestions?
Rears are always the hard part because of the e-brake set-up. But it isn't hard to swap out the front for an F-Body Caliper Swap for more bite, lighter calipers, and double the pistons.
I disconnected the e-brake inside the car by the footwell area because I'm installing a custom floor kickpod for speakers, I have a spacer on the brake part to hold tension. Is the e-brake even needed since the rears are disc brakes and drums usually get reset by the parking brake when you are in reverse.
We already have the 12" rotor. If you are reading a grand prix forum they got 11" and a 12" is an upgrade.
I won't be getting bigger rims so I may not be able to go with larger rotors, so you think with the f-body calipers with two pistons and brackets and bolts, performance 12" rotors and performance big brake pads, that's all I'll need for the front and rears?
I'm sure with modifications you can run CTS-V calipers, but it will most likely require an 18" rim and other modifications.
