I picked up some duplicolor touch up paint in white to try and paint my lettering. I took the wheel off so it would lay flat to make it easy to paint. I cleaned the wheel a few times to make sure no black was rubbing off onto my rag anymore. I painted the letters and dang they looked nice! It really stood out and added a nice touch. BUT, I drove it a few hours later and all the paint was cracked and pealing off. Is touch up paint not the right paint to be using, or is it even possible to paint on tires?

 

tires will flex and move while driving / hitting bumps, etc.

That will throw the surface around and the paint tries to stay in one place and doesn't give flex. I think you need to find a pliable paint that is made for plastics in order for this to hold up.

 

I doubt this would ever work. You tire is constantly flexing so the paint would have to be able to exact and conform with the tire. You can buy tires with white letters. I'm guessing that's the only solution.

What color are you after? My tires have been painted. I use a paint pen available from Harley Davidson dealerships. The only colors are yellow and orange. Its durable and only needs touch up once a year.
