hell the dealer that i went to to get suspention warenty work done they told me they lowered there prices on there parts and labor to bring in people. they told me if i didnt have a warenty the trailing arm and a new hub and other parts plus an alien ment would have been $980 for the work i know some dealers are cheaper and also alot more it is more of a gambel. but they said what that is insane unless they dont have proper tools and they have to sell the whole units for the front end. but that is insane. but when you do it your self be very carefull about the springs. because they are very heavy loads and can shoot out when you un lusen every thing.

That price is insaine. Even if they are complete units, you can buy those complete units online for about $170 each, and thats for KYB's. I got a quote for my 06 Monte, and a shop wanted $890 to replace all four struts, and re-align (and I thought that was expensive).

I got to thinking about that quote and I'm pretty sure the service advisor was not very knowledgeable. I think for the front end, he quoted me the cost of R&R the "Strut" itself and not the insert/shock. The GM list for struts is $623 each. Had he worked up the estimate correctly, he would have quoted me the cost of the shock insert and labor - still, GM has an astronomical list price of $185.66 each for the inserts! (My dealer always charges list.) I just found out that AdvanceAuto has a $20 rebate for on-line orders of $100 or more, so I can get $20 off the rear struts, $20 off the front inserts, and $50 mail in rebate from Monroe. Can't beat that. By the way, I'm using gmpartsdirect.com to lookup the "dealer list")

Those list price are crazy high too. I guess expected since they are genuine GM parts, but still. Like I said, the entire spring/ strut assembly is about $170 online for KYB, and the strut itself (insert) is about $50-65 for KYB GR2's.

man that is insane of pricing but it seems that the dealer that you went to likes to jack up the prices to the people. how in the heck does gm wants to make a come back with some of the dealers with insane price on there parts. i checked with the dealer about the new struts for the frunt end for the heck of it. they quoted over half of what the dealer quoted you. the guy told me they hurt them selfs on eating the caust of what gm is charging them for parts. but he told me they rather have custimers come in to get work done then have it done by a shade tree guy with a air tank. he told me they rather want to eat the balk of gm's part price just to make sure that the part the person get is gm part for that car. but there are gm dealers out there not willing to do that to make the custimers come back. simple economices eat most of the price on the parts and the custimers make up that in volume in getting things.

Get KYB shocks or struts. They are the ONLY manufacturer that custom makes shocks/struts to OEM specs. Monroe and all the others use a generec shock with different mounts any more. Check it out.

You should ask them how much they would take the car in on trade. lol Cause I bet it wouldn't be much more than what they are quoting to do the suspension. lol

GM dealers don't make money selling cars, they make money repairing them. THAT'S a fact!
