I am currently doing a lowering job to my 00 monte.... here is the list of parts

-SSC lowering springs-$180
-KYB-2 shocks- $220
-new strut plates (optional)-$130
-Shorter dogbones (NEEDED!!)-$30
-Anti pogo washers (NEEDED!!)-$30

Total= $460... optional=$590
-Tools needed= Spring compressor and basic wrenches/ratchet set

All the parts above can be found at zzperformance.com
They will help you out with any questions!
Hope this helps!

Also. with my wheels and tires... the total drop should be around 3". Because I have it already lowered but if you have stock tires... expect a 1.75" drop.

Im not 100% on that one but the reason we need it in ours is at like 50 mph everything starts to shake otherwise...I would assume it would be the same way in the 7th gen, since the body didnt change that much. sorry its not a def answer but thats all I got!

What would cause this exactly?

When you lower the car, it throws off the axle geometery. Shorter dog bones pull your motor forward and get the axle geometery back closer to stock.

Interesting. Thanks.

Another way to minimize/eliminate vibration due to axle geometry change is to use spacers under the motor mounts to raise the motor/trans back to it's former position, thus forgoing the shorter dog bones which can bring headers closer to the fans(not a good thing).
