Default Interchangeable Parts Question

I have a 2003 Monte Carlo. The rear end suspension mount and surrounding parts are rusted and need to be changed. I also have a 98 Monte Carlo, I was wondering if the rear suspension mount, sway bar, struts and linkage from the 98 would work on the 2003?

Honestly, you would have to look at the '98 and compare. They *might* interchange. Or see if GM lists the interchange somewhere. But I have a feeling they won't.

Wow, that mount is beyond gone - Ive never seen one so bad.

GM's PN interchangeability doesn't not show it being compatible. Its noted for 1997-2016, but the 97-99 is for a Grand Prix (which was on the 2nd gen W body platform at that point - those 5th gen montes were on the 1.5 gen platform).

Doesn't mean it won't still bolt up - its worth taking some measurements, the difference could be something as minor as a brake line bracket or something. I know the lateral arms that bolt to it are interchangeable, so that side should be good - its just a matter of if the body side will bolt up or not. Probably worth a few minutes underneath each (well, maybe a bit more off to the side on the newer one, I wouldnt climb under that lol) with a tape measure.

thanks! Yeah I got screwed, when I bought it I noticed a little it of rust around the wheel wells and I asked the dealer if there was any other bad rust on the vehicle and he kept saying nope it's all good, and now after fixing the front end I'm about $7k into it and figured I might as well just finish it, the motor and inside are in near perfect condition so that's a plus

Yikes, that is a tough spot. It's too bad they used such a useless coating on them from the factory. When redoing my rear suspension, I wanted to powdercoat mine but the shop refused my factory one as the surface was too pitted to save (too much prep labor). I had to scour several junkyards to find one in good enough shape to clean up relatively smooth as they were all a rusty mess.

I was always diligent about keeping the salt rinsed off too- its just the factory coating offered very little long term protection.

So we went through and checked the 98 and the rear end matches up perfectly with the 03. So if anyone else is looking for parts the 98 z34 suspension parts do match with the 03 ss.
