Ebay lowering springs... Thoughts

What do you guys think about these?

>>> JDM 1.7"/1.5" DROP SUSPENSION RED RACE LOWERING SPRING/SPRINGS 450F/250R(LB) | eBay <<<

I really want to lower my monte and wanna give these a try, what all other parts would I need to replace and what not? If its just about swapping the springs with the factory ones then it sounds fairly easy. Id like to get another set of used struts first though. That way I can still have my stock ones to just bolt back in if I wanted to lol I'm no cheap ass btw :rotfl: but if these will work and save me some $$$ then I'll give them a try first :D haha

01 Monte SS 05-02-2012 02:45 PM

Made by DNA Motoring... hmmm. I believe they are the same people that sell/sold Speed Daddy headers and since those are good maybe their springs are good too???

Haha! You should buy 'em and find out, if it turns out well I might have to get some too

03JGMonte 05-02-2012 02:54 PM

Ive been thinkin about using em on the front of the monte to offset the rear sag with the subs

Franks 03SS 05-02-2012 02:57 PM

I'm really considering them  even more now that I have some 20's  Lol

I was thinkin the same but then I removed the subs cuz I hated the sag lol.. Got a full inch lift without my 12s.

Dropping the front would possibly give me a reason to put them back in lol

That's the set I run and have no problems at all.

DuSSt 05-02-2012 04:31 PM

If you can find some reviews or something on their quality, I would go for it, even if you don't like it, $88 bucks isn't bad at all to give it a try, especially if you can do all the labor yourself.

What all did you replace? Just the springs? :)

yea that's what I was thinking.. $88 isn't much for a full set of lowering springs lol it's deff worth a try
Like I said I'll probably get another set of struts to put them in, that way I can unbolt my stock ones and replace them with the lowering ones :D

Ashley.Marie 05-03-2012 06:54 AM

I was just looking at these too! Might go for it and try, 88 bucks isn't much compared to most other lowering sets.

I haven't lowered my Monte yet, but from what I've read you would also (at the very least) want to install anti-pogo washers and shorter dog bones.

ZIPPY02 05-03-2012 07:45 AM

If I'm not mistaken you also need to get a 4 wheel alignment done when you add the lowering springs.

What do you have for subs that it's sagging so much?

This is true, also I wouldn't drop on stock struts... you're just looking for trouble, I would get struts that are designed to be on lowering springs, they'll last 10x longer than the stock struts with springs and they'll ride a lot better.

03JGMonte 05-03-2012 08:46 AM

I dont see why u would need shorter dog bones nvr understood that

daves92camaro 05-03-2012 09:27 AM

because the springs change the angle your motor and driveshaft sit..and you get some vibrations...never bothered me..but maybe some people?

Well I guess we'll just have to find out Mitch :p
I'm going to get another set of used factory struts, that way I can have my original back up set :)

i think because a fwd changes the weight distribution so moving the engine forward changes that distribution and limits the vibration, spaced trans and engine mounts are usually needed also.. it turns into an endless list lol

bearbear3_4 05-03-2012 03:03 PM

I already had shorter dog bones, gave me more room for the turbo piping. I replaced the struts with KYB AGX's and used the stock top mounts. Haven't had any issues requiring me to get the anti pogo washers.

Is that a good deal? http://www.lightningrodder.com/forum...milies/102.gif

We want moar pics of them on!!! and feedback! lol sorry I stopped texting you back yesterday too btw... I was driving back from the junk yard and forgot until right now :p

Habbibie 05-10-2012 07:06 PM

my set up currently is Sprint lowering springs and they're the same drop as Frank listed, not the same price however, i used KYB struts with it and that's all i did, car dropped about 1.75 inches all around after 5000 miles or so, i haven't had not one issue with this set up yet, didn't need an alignment and i didn't get any shorters dog bones, bushings etc etc.

oh i am still running the stock 16" wheels, 20's might be a problem being that low....

im really disappointed right now
did you get an instant difference when you installed your rears? mine didnt drop at all  the front on the other hand turned out so sexy :) im runnning stock struts :p still wondering if the rear springs have to settle or something though. its kind of strange  im running my 16's since the guy said i'll need them to do a proper alignment http://www.lightningrodder.com/forum...milies/102.gif and i dont think i'll need an alignment for now though lol so i'll get my 20's back on probably tomorrow. also didnt get any of that engine vibration nonsense haha :p

red04montels 05-10-2012 08:17 PM

Frank, the front and rear should both settle more than they did already, usually after like 300-500 miles or so.

well the fronts gave me a pretty good drop, idk why the rears didnt  i guess i'll find out in a few days. if nothing happens i'll need to buy a different set elsewhere :p

Franks 03SS 05-11-2012 07:25 PM

So i removed the springs today lol i got in contact with the ebay user and he told me they might've been defective  once i return them i'll be getting a new set and hopefully that does the trick :p
in the meantime i was able to find a brand new set of front strut assemblies on craigslist for only $60! :D the ones i was planning to use were used :o the rears are still good though. now i just have to wait till i get another set of springs :(

here's some pics of the struts when they were on the monte, they looked pretty good in there ;)
