I'm still running on my original 13 year old OEM Goodyear RS-As. I have just under 31,000 miles on them. Just curious on how many miles you all got out of them before you had to replace them. Current tread depth isn't horrible. Kinda worried about running them this coming winter though.

 

IMO, I would replace them regardless of how much tread life they have left. 13 years is pretty old for tires.

 

We have them on our impala have about 35k on them and due for replacement, not impressed really

 

Iam on my second set my Monte carlo SS has 90,000 miles .
I just bought One new Goodyear Eagle RSA 235/55/R17 tire. Mounted, never used, then dismounted. Never been on the ground for $50 today..

 

They aren't a bad tire but way too expensive. I have no complaints other than the price. I don't know for how much longer I'm going to keep the Monte so I don't want to spend that kind of money. I was kinda looking at the Firestone Firehawks - those have also been available for a long time. My fiance has a set of those on his 92 Z28.

 

I'm pretty sure the original RS-A lasted a good amount of time. My replacement ones didn't, so I then went other options after that when I used the 16s for daily driving.

I would definitely check the sidewalls carefully for dry-rotting, 13 years really is a length of time.

 

I agree 13 years is a long time to have the tires. As indicated before check for Dry Rot.
New Tires I always check the Traction Ratings if you live in the Upper USA and also the Treadwear ratings the Higher the number the longer they should last. like 480 or more can be 60K or better. This information is explained in Tirerack also.
New tires keep you from Hydroplaning in wet weather and a all season tire will provide the Traction for the snow driving. Ice stay at home!!

Make sure you get a hazard warranty as well as free balance and rotation every 5K or so. Wall mart and Sam's Club I think you can get that with PEP boys and Costco also.

 

The tires are still in great condition - no dry rot. I only put a couple of thousand miles on them the past 3 years so my car and tires rarely saw the light of day. I also always had tire dressing with UV protection on them for shows.
