Does this make ANY sense?
I have been looking for new struts and coils for my car for the last couple of weeks, as some of you already know (Sorry for all the questions lol). I have come across some interesting things, but they don't make sense. KYB has two types of GR-2 struts now just to let everyone know (Thanks Goodwrench). The GR-2 models 334228, 334227 for 2002-UP (Without special handling package) meaning NON FE4 and the GR-2 models 339015, 339148 for 2004-UP (With special handling package) meaning FE4. This is where is gets nonsensical. When E-mailing KYB I was told that the 339015,339148 2004-UP (With special handling packge) better GR-2s are: Different in LENGTH, MOUNTING and MOUNTING RATES. Does that make any sense? Can't I, if I wanted to, take the FE4 suspension off the 2004 Monte and just bolt it on my 2002? So in theory shouldn't the better GR-2s fit on my car?

You know I would love to know more information on this myself. I am kinda confused with information/ part numbers from various websites. Some websites (actually KYB's) show that the 06-07 without special handeling package has the same front and rear struts as the 00 and up.
However, other websites show that the 06-07 without special handling package have the same rear struts, but different part number for the front struts.
I don't know what to believe, but i'm leaning toward thinking that the 06/07's DO have different front struts than the 00-05, because more websites show that information.
So yea i'd like to know how different the special handling package makes it too...Can we swap regular struts for struts from a special handling car????
If you find out anything, please let us all know. Thanks!

-I did email KYB and they said the info above but wouldn't give me a straight answer on if the 339015,339148 would fit on my car.
-Basically what I am wondering is: Could you take the FE4 suspension off a, let's say 2005 Monte Carlo Supercharged and bolt that onto my 2002 without modification.

What size engine do you have? If you have the 3.8 liter then it should be the same as the supercharged 3.8 liters. I know gp's that have used the gmpp performance kit (sway bars, trailing arms etc) on both supercharged and non supercharged gps. From what I know the FE4 is the same as the performance kit so they should be interchangeable. Just thought I would throw that out there as well.

Reason I ask is KYB like I said above said that the GR-2's made for the 2004-2007 Monte Carlos are longer and mount different, but that can't be right can it?

Oh wow, good info. Thanks!
So my car does NOT have the special handling package, does this mean that I COULD use the struts for the special handling cars, and basically slightly upgrade my handling??? Or do I need to stick with the rear shocks designed for non-special handling cars?
Thanks.

I didn't know you use the (special handling package) GR-2s I thought you used the GR-2 models 334228, 334227. Well if you used them then they have to work right! Ok well that makes my decision about that thanks!
So to answer this thread question the GR-2 models 334228, 334227 and models 339015, 339148 will fit on Monte Carlos from 2000-2005 for sure-- and probably on the 2006-2007 also. Why they don't label that on their sites is beyond me.
