cv drive shafts. what brand?
I am in the process of replacing most of the front suspension on my 2004 SS, due to a lot of rust. car came from Ill. What brand of half shafts are best?summit has cardone and so does rock auto. price is around $50. at rock auto acdelco has them for around $500. for the pair. I want to do it once and do it right. Thanks
I'm currently having the same issues with my cv axles. Was told by the very reputable (The Driveshaft Shop) to get the A/C/ Delco brand. But ONLY from a reputable dealer as there are knock off A'C Delco parts floating about. So I'm getting mine from a dealership, should be in tomorrow. Mine are about $675 for a left and a right. yeowsa...
I recently redid them on my monte. I picked up some used stock shafts off a lower mileage gtp from a local junkyard (granted I have hybrid shafts with the 5th gen monte outermost portions).
I had a Napa shaft in the drivers side that was giving me problems. Seems like the aftermarket stuff doesnt have the quality metal or heat treat process that OEM does.
So I just took the used stock shafts, put in new boots and grease and it seems to be good so far.
