Default Comments needed on handling upgrades 2005 SC MC SS

As you all know I have a 2005 MC SC SS. Looking to do some handling modifications. What are some of the recommended upgrades you all have experiences with??

Car currently has 245/45 18's Nitto 555's. Handles well but want more.

Sway Bars??

Braces?

Poly Bushings??

Comments and suggestions are appreciated. TYIA

There used to be a GMPP Suspension upgrade package through GM, but you can't purchase that any more.

But I believe you can still try to get individual pieces of it.

Also, getting Strut Tower Braces for the front and rear can help with body roll.

Also, ZZP sells a set of coilovers ready to bolt-in. Or you can lower a little. But with that you are going to decrease the quality of the ride, which I'm sure you are aware of.

Keep in mind that there's only so much you can do with a FWD car. My 73 Z-28 (which weighs about 6-700 lbs more than my Monte) handles far better than the Monte does. And it's completely stock and sits way higher. Don't think I'm trying to say you shouldn't try to improve your handling, I'm just making sure you understand not to expect too much. Course there's plenty of cars that put my 73 to shame as well so it's all relative I guess.

That being said, suspension can get very expensive very quick. So look to spend some money. I know I will be spending a ton on the 73 in the next year or two. Probably won't do much with the Monte in terms of handling until I have the 73 done.

I don't think at this point I want to change the quality of the ride down the road, just want to change the handling of the car at high speeds and during cornering.

Last night we were on our way back to PHX from LA. Traveling between 80-115+ and some ahole decided he didnt want to move over from the fast lane. So I went to pass him on the slow lane. He moved over and slammed the brakes and the car went squirrely on me. I saved it but it was all body roll. Thats why I am in need of some handling assistance. Scared the wife... She no happy with how it handled. Said "FIX IT!"

Well you can only avoid so much of that in a FWD vehicle. Just because of it being a FWD, the F/R weight ratio is a lot more heavily towards the front than a RWD or AWD vehicle. This makes it a little squirrely by nature when heavy braking is being applied. That is a huge amount of force to be applied to that front suspension. To correct this problem, most of your efforts will have to be towards the front suspension.

$135!!!??? You serious?

What part number is this piece???? An additional strut brace P/N 12456148 can be ordered for rear strut tower, but is a labor intensive installation.

12456148

The rear strut brace can be a PITA but if you have a set of ratcheting wrenches it's cake.
