Biggest Rims possible

18s will fit fine, but ask yourself how your budget is, because the tire for an 18" rim is much more expensive than the tire for a 17" rim.
When it comes down to buying a new set of tires, the 17s are much more friendly.

I used to think no bigger than 17" on the 2000 and up Montes. But after seeing different sizes on my car and some of the rims on other people's Montes, I'm thinking a range between 17 and 20 inch rims would be ideal without making any alterations to the car.
My car came with 17" rims. And after using 16" rims for my winter snow tires, I've decided that 16" rims look too small on these cars esthetically. For my taste anyway.
If you're going for big but with absolutely no issues, I would go with either 18 or 20 inch. 18" gives you a little bit more room for forgiveness if the roads in your area are in bad shape.
Remember: The bigger the rim, the thinner the tire is.
Around here the roads are in such horrible shape, that people with 22+ inch rims hit a pot-hole and bend the rim. More rubber means a little more forgiveness when hitting large bumps and pot-holes.
The larger you go, the more expensive it is for tires and rims.
Most aftermarket rim designs are available in the 18 and 20 inch range. So you should be able to find a style you like in one of those two sizes.

Do 5th gen would accept 20'' like 6th gen monte carlos do? Reason i am asking is that just by looking at it, you can tell the opening is different and way less circular then the 6th generation.
I like it big like some of the people here and i'm ready to sacrifice performance, but rubbering issues would make me walk away from 20''...

no way. our cars are pretty big, and 20's are the best fit for our cars "at stock height" the way i kinda think is if you are going to go with 17's you might as well stay with the stock ones. and wheels on a car are a big eye catcher, they will make or break a car

eh, not the best fit if you want performance out of them

i only got 16's.... but i got white walls, not redonkulous rims lol
just playing, if i had the money id get mine bigger, but at least with the 16's when i curb check i dont have to check my rims for scratches.
