Default 99z34 tire choices

Stock tires are 225 60 r16. Was thinking about getting some indy 500 tires but they only have 225 55 16 is it a big deal lowering the sidewall? Also if i wanted to run wider tires would i look for 235 60 16 options or something else?

you could run a 55 profile. it wouldnt make much of a difference. you will just have a smaller looking tire which may look weird at first. and yes 235 would be a little wider. but sometimes if you go from a 60 to a 55 profile it will be a little wider but only by about .2-.4 inches or so.

I would try not to stray too far from the overall diameter of the tire so that your speedometer still reads correctly.

Here's a comparision with the link u provided

Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference
225/60-16 5.3in 13.3in 26.6in 83.7in 757 0.0%
225/55-16 4.9in 12.9in 25.7in 80.9in 783 -3.3%

Does that mean im gaining gas mileage with the smaller tire?

Your gas mileage is not going to change. The cars tires will be doing more RPMs because the overall circumference is smaller.

The readings show that your speedo will be 3.3% off, and you will be going slower than the speedometer says.
