1997 Monte LS lowering question
Hi all. I'm a 55 year old man who's owned this car since new. I saw a same year monte lowered 2 inches the other day and asked him if he was happy with the ride. He said that a 1" drop would have made a better ride but he's just a town cruiser. He said he replaced the struts with typical Monroe, and Eibach springs. My Monte has 15" American Racing wheels. Also, he had to get the wheels aligned ? My question is how does a drop effect the ride? What can i expect to feel in ride difference? I still have to travel 50 miles a day to go to work and it's all highway.......Regards....Tom H

you are going to notice a difference in the ride, its going to be a little stiffer, but its not as bad as they used to be...i lowered my truck 2" and it road the same, even with the 20's on it, actually when i had the 20's on it seemed a little smoother like i was driving on air

mine is lowered 2.5" the ride is decent alot stiffer then id like and i have a dragging problem and 1helluva problem going over speed bumps and stuff. but for the look and the handling gains its worth it but i wouldnt go as far as what i did if i had to do it again

personally from the sound of it, i think you would be happy with a set of Z34 springs. the Z's springs are about .5" shorter. i recently added eibach springs they lowered the car another 1.25"
im using KYB GR2 struts. i also have 17" wheels, strut tower braces, and rear trailing arms. the ride is a bit stiff but its not bad. car handels like its on rails! turns that are posted at like 20 i can comfortably take at 40+ also i am runing 245/40-17" tires upfront and 225/55-17 in the back. i just got some Pilot sport tires for the front too and they grip like nothing else.
