17 inch wheels on a 07 SS

They are running:

16x7
Offset: 40mm
Backspacing: 5.63"
Bolt Pattern: 5x115

I believe a 235/60/16 tire is what I calculated to be the closest size to stock. GPS confirms their speedo is still accurate.

its 5x115 and a 52mm offset, at least what i can find on google.

now as far as speedo and wheels go, i know on my lincoln the speedo comes from the ABS sensors so wheel size wont make a diffrence how does our cars speeo work?

It is built into the wheel hub.

It goes by the rotation of the wheels, if you change the overall size of the wheel it will rotate faster or slower than the sensor is thinking.
