Default Rpm jump in 4th gear

My rpm jumps between 1500 and 2200 in 4th gear. Any idea what could cause this? 2000 monte carlo ss.

Possibly starting to have a torque converter lockup solenoid failing.

TCC rpm oscillation

would this be a cause for the engine to seem to rock when shifting to 4th? It has since stopped happening.

It's possible, that could also be mounts. But when a trans starts to go, there can be a lot of weird issues going on.

So getting this fixed would require the transmission be disassembled right? Also is there anything else to check for?

I would get it to a specialist and have them look over the car and check the data coming from it. It could be as simple as a solenoid, which aren't terrible to access. Or it could be a hard part starting to fail, which would require disassembly and fixing.

I had recently removed power from the car. Is that causing these codes or is it related to my problem? Also I got the problem to go away after repeatedly activating the TCC solenoid with a tester.

The issue is back. Will take it to a specialist. Does anyone think removing power and reapplying it could have caused this problem?

So after adding "Hotshots secret TSE" to the trans the issue went away. It has been a little over a week with no issues at all. Today it happened again though different than before. The car shifted into 4th (not sure how fast I was going maybe 45?) And the RPM gauge started jumping up and down between 1500 and 2000. And it wasn't soft either. It took about 1 second for it to cycle between 1500 and 2000 2 times! It did this cycle 4 times (about 2 seconds total) before I took my foot off the gas and reapplied it. After that there were no problems. Again this all started after I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes. I had no issues before that. I have a scanner and can check values of each component. Unfortunately I can't stare at the TCC slip info while driving. Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? Bad crank sensor, MAF, TPS, plugs, wires, coils?

Jason, one thing you might want to check. I had issues with my 02 SS jumping out of overdrive. It turned out to be my throttle position sensor. If it sends crazy signals to the ecm, it will make the car shift erratically at times. Just a thought.
