Default Need a 3800 SS Engine "Beauty" cover

Anyone know where I can get another engine cover? After decades of owning Monte Carlos I have never had a recall that does not make it clear they take away your parts but dont have a replacement. Well I finally went and took my car in for the engine oil drip recall problem and to my surprise they give you the car back with the new manifold cover and the shorter oil fill spout but the take away the engine cover. Thanks a lot GM I always wanted my 2004 SS to not have the original parts. If I had known the term "remove" the engine "beauty" cover during the procedure meant we take parts off your car and you dont get them back I would have not followed the rules. "Oh we dont give you any new engine cover either!" said the service guys. So now where can a guy get another 3800 SS Supercharged engine cover the fits, is correct size and not $100's of dollars. The eBay folks like this recall so they can sell you junky used ones for a fortune.

Just to make folks aware that in order for the recall to be complete the dealerships are required by GM to tag, with VIN and return all the parts they remove from the car. Now looking back had I known I probably would have removed mine and then had them do the work. Then take mine and cut off the front part that extends down to the oil filler spout/neck. Just make a nice clean straight line across the front edge and put it back on.

I understand GM's recall. But I would go complain that if the recall state the cover is no longer to be on the car, that does not mean the dealer has the right to KEEP the cover. Just say you want it for garage wall art.

I've heard a variety of stories. Some dealers will give them back and some won't.

And for the record, the recall called it a "beauty cover" the shop book calls it an "injector shield". So the question in my mind, what was the purpose for this cover, look pretty or functional protection?

Also, I am with Jerry, do a little something to where the engine looks better without the cover.

My Monte is the 2004 SS 3.8 Series II so do you think it will match up. I have the top screw round hole and the rectangular clip part on the back on my old cover.
