I'm needing to get all fours up in the air for my rim swap. I have found the jacking location in the owners manual but I need a discription, diagram or pictures of the proper locationforall 4 jack stands (front and rear) to get her up in the air if any anyone has any.

What year is your car?

 

The times I've raised my '06 Monte up for cleaning/detailing underneith I raised the car under the engine cradle with my floor jack. I set two of my jack stands at points under the engine cradle cause for one, I know it's there to support the drive train. If it were a weak point Chevy wouldn't be using it to hold the engine in the car.

In the rear I placed my floor jack under the center of the back of the car. There's a cross beam that holds the rear suspension in. You have to lay under the car to see it. I place a 4x4 pie of wood on the floor jack cradle, raise the floor jack just enough to contact the cross beam, then climb out from under the car to raise the car up enough to get floor jacks under the back. I used a piece of wood cause I don't want it scratching anything.
I looked for the tube sections of the subframe then placed the jack stands there. You can do in the front as well. I just used to engine cradle cause I knew it had to be strong.

if you can hit the frame with the jack then jack it up from there, if not then use the control arms on the front and jack it up from there, then put the jack stands under the frame

 

So I can jack up anywhere along this green line, yes? (2001 SS Shown)

your can only jack on the outside where there is a pinch weld.. idk what year the above photo is from..

 

i had this same question in mind. the jacking locations say to jack it from the cut outs in the ground effects which is what i do but i hate the way it warps them when raising the car. if anyone has pics of there jacking location it would be much appreciated.

Correct me if I am wrong but here is a photo of (what I think is) the cutout that TheMonteMan refers to for the stock in-truck jack (again, a 2001 SS shot).

 

thats where you should jack up, the first one you posted is just a thin piece of sheet metal
