Moved on from the lift to jack stands. The question still stands.

 

I usually put the front ones under the lower control arms(a arms) and the rear under the trailing arms. I hope this helps.

 

I got my 2001 Monte Carlo pace car a month ago and have been doing some brake work on it. I notice the frame rail on the left rear was smashed about 8 inches before it goes up into the wheel well............bummer! The person who had the car before me was the only owner. It looks like they hit a curb or ran over a big rock with the car,but I don't know. Perhaps somebody jacked the Monte up in that spot and bent the frame... I took my time placing the jack and jack stands under the car where the frame rails are spot welded . Anyway I hope I can get it fixed right,it's to nice (rare) of a car to have that happen but it does .

I like the diagram aussiek2000 posted, but does anyone know the exact location to jack the car up in the front? Is it just the engine cradle?
