might find this funny
I just read this whole thread for the first time. LOL!! Your friend is funny!!
I read Truckin' magazine (cuz I am a truck/suv man at heart...used to have a silverado). When the Trailblazer SS first came out, they were in the middle of their SUV of the year contest. Trailblazer didn't win, but they named it their "Most Fun to Drive" winner. They only complained that they would like to have seen more aggressive styling for the SS model, but at the same time, stated that is looks like a "No Nonsense" mean-machine when you consider what's lurking under the hood.

yeah, i have that same article. when i read that i thought "damn, a LS2 in a trailblazer...should be mean" and i had to have one. it's nice and pretty quick for what it is. i've whooped up on several 99-04 stang GTs...even toyed with some new body style ones, but didnt get to run them from a dig. it's a great sleeper cause when i first got it hardly anyone knew what it was, all they saw was a TB on 20s. i've got a pretty good kill list to prove that the masses was ignorant lol. but now since i've had it a little while and there's a couple more running around town people are starting to know what it is pretty easily. there's a total of 3 in my town, my blue one, a black 2wd, and a silver 2wd and i'm actually friends with both of them.
anyways, enough of me rambling on about my hooptie. my "friend" is actually my brother-in-law, and he's......different. a good guy all around, but he loves his car more than i do my TB, which nothing wrong with that. but i realize that i do, infact, drive a SUV. it's not a race car and i know this, so i know where to draw the line on it's capabilities. he's got the 03 n/a SS and he honestly believes it's supercharged and can outrun the majority of things on the street. (i mean it DID keep up with a vette [sm=icon_rofl.gif] )

actually take off is worse as they spin. mine just squats and takes off. now from a roll they should take me, but i haven't really raced them from a roll, and they wouldn't take me by much. when i'm racing someone on the street i prefer a dig...the awd and 1st gear is my major advantage. take me to 2nd gear and i lose my major advantage. and i can have loads more fun on slippery roads than they can.....to an extent. i can't do donuts, or smokey burnouts or the like, but i fear no one on a wet road race lol

my friend has a silverado with a 5.3 and i know the supercharged 3.8 will take it, but the regular 3.8 i dont think so, maybe, it'll be close, very close

I think a 3400 will own it...
I took my friend who has a suburban with the 5.3L V8 and totally owned him. The suburban might be a tad heavier than a silverado but not by much. If I can own him with a 3400 then you can def take him with a 3800.

i dont think either one will take the silverado. typical 2wd weighs in at around 4400 lbs and the suburban closer to 5700lbs. the 3.8 will stand a better chance than the 3.4 though. my sis-in-law has an alero with the 3.4 and i wasn't too impressed with it. i've been around 3.8s and they're alot more peppy, but still dont know if it'll stand up to a 5.3 in a short wheel base 2wd. i dont know what kind of truck it was since it wasn't clearly stated. and not to mention for some reason the suburbans usually have less hp than the trucks.
but go ahead and race it, not gonna hurt anything. another thing to consider is that most of the 5.3s have a programmer and exhaust...some have a CAI too. or at least around here it seems like every 5.3 you run across has the same things done to it. a few of them have a cam shoved in them, but few and far between.
well i know the 3.8 will beat the 5.3 silverado because i used to own a dodge magnum 3.5L and that lost by half a car to the silverado. my friend has a 3.8 and used to beat me by 2-3 car lengths. idk about the 3.4L but the 3.8 is a for sure win.
