a helmet is usually required for a car that can run 12.99 or faster in teh quarter... it must be one of there things but i would call them and confirm its needed for all drivers. i have never needed one so i cant help you there

and finally, yes, in an automatic, put it in D and hold on!!! manually shifting wont gain anything on these computer aided transmissions and wont accomplish much on the old mechanical shifting ones. anybody who tells you they run better times by manually shifting an automatic needs to change the pressure points on there transmission lines!!

ok thanks for all the info guys.. if got the cash by time the track is still going on sundays ill find out otherwise i will next season, before i decide on turbo or super along with a cold air intake

Yes. Third.
If the car shifts into Drive ... it will be shifting into Overdrive. Reducing the RPM's and lessening the Power you want to be making by a great deal. I think you're better off leaving it 3. There's less of a chance of you hitting the rev-limiter and losing precious time you can't make-up.

sorry for the old thread bump, but as far as the air pressure thing goes....what should you do if your track does not have an air tank to refil with?

lol yeah, insomnia sucks....but i was kinda looking for a threat like this too

i'd have a hard time believing a track doesn't have an air tank. those guys on slicks with the big money dumped on those rail dragsters and the such do tests and tunes and constantly adjust air pressure... but if they don't, i wouldn't recommend going down below about 26 psi anyway to make it home... but if you got a several hour drive home from the track, i'd just leave my pressures alone.
