What modifications would I need in order to beat a Dodge SRT in a 1/4 mile?

More than you would want to spend. 03 where a little slower butall years of thiscar run like a bat out of hell. Since you have a 00. I would say built motor, better trans, turbo or supercharger. Hell or just a big shot of nitrous, but be careful with that. Good luck finding a stock srt4. Also these cars with very little mods are fast. My buddy had an 04, 3" downpipe, intake, bov, and it ran even with our other buddies stock z28 that ran 13.4 in the 1/4. Also once he put stage 2 with toys it was running low 13's, high 12's.

 

you need to magically transform the car into a Z28....

 

I have seen a srt8 chrysler 300 do 12.5 seconds and my friends jeep srt8 do a 13.3 at the drag strip

I think you need to match the performance of the 6.1 Hemi

BY this I mean, Drop in a LS2 engine in the monte with a nice intake headers and nice exhuast, some good z rated tires and a light racing rim, a beefed up tranny and tuned and this would even make a SRT8 Jealous,

Just imagine adding a small shot of nitrous to an LS2 and you will be flying down the strip

The nitrous would be the cheapest way to go than a supercharger or turbo

A new ls2 corvette at the drag strip last night did 12's

 

what kind of srt is it?

is it a neon
magnum/300/charger
ram
viper?

if its a neon it may be acheivalbe if its anything more you will need to get a turbo and a lot more stuff in there to maybe keep up

 

why spending all that money just to beat an other car? are you racing this guy for money? if you do all that you might as well buy yourself a LS2. jgargan03, if this srt is stock and your L36 is modded, by what i mean is rockers, cai, pcm, headers or plog, dp or maybe do a top swap instead with some mods i say you have a good chance. hey anything can happen. btw is it srt8 or srt4? if you thinking about spraying a big shot of nitrous i hope you have $$$ for another motor to be replace. with small shot of nitrous will not help you. need to be 100+ shots to be affective and will also risk you blowing your motor. you might be fine the first time spraying it, but what about the next time you spray? if nitrous is safe and effective i think everybody would be using it. just my .02 cents

 

Well it's my ex-gf's 17 year old brother who has drag experience, and its more for pride than anything else.

459bhp and 492 btq.
2.6 stroker
hahns 20g turbo with tubular exhaust manifold.
its street tuned but when it was dynoed i ran 110 octane

that seems a little unlikely that someone got a SRT 4 neon! to 459 hp? that doesn't sound right...i'm sorry but why put all that into a neon? doesn't make sense, i think this guy is blowing a LOT of smoke, sounds unlikely to me

 

Nothing about that seems unlikely. You can put a lot of pwer into them. 459 hp sounds like a reasonable number for them, some srt-4 owners have been shooting for 550hp. And there not just neons, they are so much more than that, that is everyones bailout to make them seem lame.

With just the 20g upgrade kit it can deliver up 420+ so with the other mods he has 459 is probably the right number. Also agree with OAC, I thought the samething about these cars but when my buddy got one and I got to drive it, it's no neon by no means, it's a little monster. I've seen it take down z28's, Mustang, Trans Am.
