Default 3.9 vs older model Porsche

Well today I took the long way home due to a major traffic jam. I was going around 70 in the fast lane with medium traffic when I was coming up into another car. That's when I look at my rear view mirror and I see this yellow older 70's 80'ish (by wikipedia pics) Porsche. He kept getting closing wanting me to go faster which I couldn't because of the car that I was coming up against. I then see him going to different lanes to get up ahead traffic which he then gets stuck in traffic and gets about 5 car lenghts behind me. That's when I MAYBE saw an opportunity for a quick race.

I head all the way to the right lane in a 4-lane highway to pass up the slow traffic in my land and just to see if I still see him. I then see him trying to also avoid the slow traffic.

Well he gets on the lane next to me going around 70. I thought to my self, "If I see him coming up quick I'm stepping on it too". That's when I see him in my side mirror coming up quick and I step on it so I would have a chance. I quickly catched up to his speed and raced head to head for a quick 3 sec maybe when I realized that my lane was an exit only lane. I quickly braked to let him pass and when WOT to to catched up. I was about 3 car lengths' behind him at this moment. He then moved all the way to the fast lane and I followed. From about 70 to about 115mph he did not pull at all. We were basically the same. He didn't pull and I didn't gain which was awesome from my point of view. Then I realize the idiocy of going 115mph and slowed down and traffic was coming up.

I know hardly anything about Porsches' just that it look like and OLD model so I doubt it has the power as the Porsches of today.

Yeah, the 70's and 80's were a bad time for cars in general. But hey, the 3900 does have some pep too so you have to give yourself some credit.

That's what I was thinking, both are four-bangers but the 944 turbo can get up and move. There's several of the 944s running around with LT1 and LSx swaps that'll eat up most any other cars on the road.

sounded like you had fun kingreyana but with the 70-80 models there is alot you can do to them. same way with the third gen monte's as well. it sounds like the porsh was beatin down badly because i went head to head with a sim year and got my ars handed to me. but you had the better chance

What is the 3.9 limited to? I'm sure it has a speed limiter, thought it kicked in at 112 or so. At any rate, I love and miss the occasional stree race with my Monte, lot of fun times. If all works out well I should get the L67 Monte, and take these street races to a whole new level of embarrassment. xD
