A co-worker has a new one of these Speed3 cars. My `03 SS has 40K miles, and can keep up side by side til my engine shuts off @ 110-115, and then he will pull away. So, I'm happy that I can keep up with him and his 340hp car(modded).

nice run man, too bad about ur limiter tho, i have had a couple of races where my car just destroys the other cuz of the limiter... usually a close race then i hear wa wa wa wa wa wa w a wa and all they hear is GGRRRRR OOOOOOWWWWLLLL and i disappear lol

 

No offense but can the guy not drive or do you have a lot done to your car. The newMazdaspeed 3 stock are263hp and 0-60 in under 6 sec.

 

A guy I work with here has a brand new Mazda Speed 3 as well. I haven't driven it but I've ridden in it and I don't think I would want to line up against him. It really takes off, his only mods right now are a test pipe, intake, and a larger blow off valve. I have to agree with 06MCLTZ, that guy must not know how to drive if you got him and he's modded up to 340hp. I don't think you would be able to keep up with him if he was stock. Maybe I'll ask the guy I work with to line-up with me and we'll see what happens....or maybe I'll wait till I get a 3.4 pulley so I don't get too embarassed.

 

But the thing about turbo cars they are pretty sensitive to how you drive them. Sometime not shifting quickenough makes you loose allboost and have to gain it back up. I know in my buddies SRT-4 which moves and ithad somethings done to it, we would race in my truck, and my truck was just a little slower than his car, but if he hit the rev limiter which was like 200-300 passed redline it would kill almost all power and I would be able to catch him and sometime beat him. I don't know if that car has a rev limiter or not but that might be the issue but still think he just can't drive.

 

Yeah, Like I said, he *thinks* he beats me, cause my car shuts off, plus, when we do race, its in morning traffic, so its kinda hard to do roll-on's when there is ppl putting on thier make-up still

Hopefully, we can go to a more secluded place and line up. I'll post up after that. I do agree thou, he *should* be able to stomp my car, but.....he just cant

BTW, no mods done to my car at this time, all stock. I think the guy before me did the exhaust, but thats it.

X2 - I've seen too many bad things on street races, nobody killed yet but I've seen some $5000 damage bills that insurance doesn't like to cover.

Keep it on the track to be safe.

 

Thos mazdaspeed 3's are quick especially on top end
I think he was just playing around because around 100 is when that turbo really starts working.
But if he was pushing it I would say you have a very quick monte.
