ws-6 scoops

not that hard. the ws6 hood just had a plate from front to back with a hole cut to go over filter. I guess that I could just use it to cool engine like you said. Id still want to reenforce it a bit. Fiberglass scares me one wrong bend and boom a crack. And I have Black car so you would really see it.

To be totally honest the hood I have doesn't seem very strong. My buddy has a fiberglass hood from the inferno kit (pfyc) on his grand prix comp g and his hood feels much stronger. Of course I don't have the struts on yet but that shouldn't really affect it too much. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable trying to make my hood functional. It's a line of work I have no experience with and I can barely afford to have it painted let alone customized.
Also I'm not sure how I could strengthen it once I cut away all of that fiberglass within the scoops. It nearly touches my engine cover as it is so there isn't a lot of room to add support. For the cost of the hood, I would almost say it's not worth it if you're truly looking for function. Only reason I wanted it was to be different because 1.) There aren't a lot of Monte owners here with this style of hood (dual scoops) and 2.) There's an ls here in Ames that already has the mpd hood and I see it almost daily (and I've never really been a huge fan of single scoops.
So it's totally up to you. Since you seem like you know what it takes and you have the resources to custom build one. I say go for it. If you do it right (which I'm sure you would) It will look awesome and my guess is that it will be cheaper depending on if you have to pay your helpers at all for labor.

Yeah that sounds about right. So again if you want function I wouldn't go with this hood. But if you're just wanting looks, then it's a great hood for that

Found a steel monte hood for 150 plus shipping now I need to find a ws-6 hood to cut up. Already mapped the plenum for dad he said its no problem. And the manufacturer I contacted was extreme dimensions. They make ws-6 style fiberglass hoods for everything but monte carlos it seems. I don't have a digital camera so I cant show a how to but if I drive it to my ex girlfriends house maybe she can take some pics for me after I am done. One thing I do need to know though besides where to get a ws-6 hood is are there any internal mods to the plenum I need to make to keep water out of my intake or is the slant on the hood enough to keep water from reaching the plenum?
