I would go with black or a gunmetal metallic gray if you are painting them on. And I prefer the outer pinstripes like on the silver photo above, looks more like a 1970 Chevelle and I think that is the best stripe design ever!

 

Looking at the Phoenix Graphics black OEM style. Seen cheaper versions on ePay but did not like the subtle differences.

 

Pulled the trigger on the black from Phoenix Graphics. After looking at the car and seeing all the black trim around the windows, grill etc. and that my interior is also black, it made no sense adding adding a 3rd color. Also since it was one of the 2 colors offered by GM at the time, wanted to keep it as stock as possible for resale. I won`t be adding the roof decals as they do not look right with a sunroof.

The thing I don't care for about vinyl is you cannot wax them or are not supposed to. Is this true or just a rumor. Mine are painted on, have had no experience with vinyl graphics.
