Vinyl stripe durability
I'm looking at getting a set of racing stripes for my monte from this place- Chevrolet Monte Carlo Rally Stripe Graphics Kit 2
I'm just wondering how do these things hold up. I live in minnesota and my car is outdoors most of the winter season. To anyone that has or had vinyl graphics can you tell me how long they lasted for you, thx.

The thing you want to look or ask for is the vinyl quality (calendered), I do vinyl graphics on the side the best I have used thus far is Oracal 751, I have yet had any complaints. Its a little more and you can only get it through a good local shop...@ least around here anyway...some only last a few months and some applications forever..research before u do buy... they do charge the going rate no matter the vinyl quality to turn a quick buck.....

I had my stripes cut and installed for $100 at a local sign/graphics shop. I think looking locally can always be an option if you want to do anything different with yours. Mine have larger radius corners than other sets and I think they mimic the tail lights pretty well.

The only vinyl I've ever experimented with was on my windshield and it looked amazing for about 4 years, after which it started cracking and discoloring. The silver started to turn more gray in some spots and looked pretty uneven, but I couldn't tell you what kind of vinyl it was for sure.

I don't think my vinyl would hold up too well for many winters. It helps to hand wash only (no car washes), but I also probably wash it more often then a lot of people would. During winter I'd feel compelled to wash it everyday if I didn't store it! Simple color vinyl is probably more durable then printed or layered vinyl like I have
