I have never had a problem with the plastic caps popping off on my 03. But I don't really drive it too much anymore and I put less than 1000 miles on it a year. I hope it doesn't start because I want my rims and lugnuts all stock looking.

BTW they look really good. I'm guessing my 05 came stock with the chrome ones but I bought the car used so who knows.

The new lug nuts look good. I had a couple of the plastic covers come off my wheels also. To resolve the problem I use Loctite Blue on the outer threads of the lug nut prior to screwing the cover on. I tighten them by hand and they stay on after the thread locker sets up. A good twist with your hand and they break loose if you need to remove them. I don't suggest tightening them with a wrench. You can accidently overtighten them which will strip the soft plastic threads or crack them.

My ugly stock rims have a center cover that covered the lugs, so I have those ugly half lugs that thread into the threads and you don't see a cap at all.

Hi Mike,

Haven't had time to be on lately, but good to see you on here! Glad to hear you bought the chrome ones, we just bought a full set on Ebay for about the same price from "The Lug Nut Guys" on Ebay as well for the black '01 SS (since we replaced the old rims with the stock "star" ones). Bill says if you are going to use the plastic ones for the winter, smear the inside of the cap all around (after thoroughly cleaning them with a degreaser) with clear window silicone. Let us know if that does the trick! : ) Bill & Ro

I definitely need to get a set of chrome ones myself. Mine was missing a few when I bought the car, so I just took the rest off. At least now they all match, but chrome would be better.
