Default Stand up spoiler installation

I've got a 2001 Monte Carlo LS and bought a nascar standup type spoiler at a swap meet last week. The spoiler has 7 studs moulded into it and I centered the spoiler on the trunk and positioned it just over the lip above the rear mounted stop light and drilled the holes. Well its not going down close enough to the trunk lid and is about an inch above the rear mounted stop light. It seems like it needs to go further down on the deck lid toward the bumper but I've already enlarged the holes and am afraid it won't seal if I make them any bigger. Any suggestions on measurements I can use to relocate it.

It sounds like the measurements you made were just incorrect, you could possibly keep making the holes bigger and then seal them with some sort of rubber grommet or washer.

Welcome to the site. You could seal them up with some silicone and washers. Good luck, I'm sure someone who has done this before will have more info just be patient. we have a lot of great members here.

Default 2001 monte carlo Stand up spoiler

I took pictures of it mounted and if I can figure out how to post them here i'll send them. It seems like it gotta go down like another half inch but I don't want the holes to show if I move it too far down from the original holes I drilled. I think it looks stupid the way it is. It is flush up against the trunk lid in the front. Please let me know if you get the picture. I have no idea how to add on this site. Thanks for your reply

sounds almost like your hitting the bracing inside the trunk, idk if they are predrilled or not, here are pics from the inside of my trunk

The holes should only be big enough around for the bolts to fit in, sounds like maybe you should re-measure....

Default 2001 Mnte Carlo Spoiler positioning

I see what you mean by the pictures you posted but my deck lid is double walled and I did drill through both of them. The problem is since the studs are attached to the spoiler it was impossible to accurately position It on the car. All the holes match up perfect but 2 or 3 of them are not long enough to get a nut on. As you can see by the picture I posted earlier I think it needs to be brought back on the deck lid about a 1/2 inch and maybe it will be positioned even with the top of the stop light like it should be. I could use some well nuts if I could find them in 6mm.

you could try a diy cardboard template to double check hole spacing
