Default Spoiler FAQS.

I was wondering if anybody could post some faqs about both kinds of spoilers from 2000-2007. Im looking to get the vertical spoiler, personally i like that look much better.

Just some basic questions and hopefully someone could help answer.

1. Do all spoilers from 00-07 bolt up the same?
2. Do the spoilers actually have an adhesive and will this rip up my paint under my surfboard(or vertical)?
3. Might be difficult to answer but do both types take up the same amount of surface area on the trunk lid?

Let me know if you've ever done this and what process you had to go through, i will be purchasing the spoiler pre painted to the color of my car.

Share what your personal favorite spoiler is for the monte's, OEM and aftermarkets are welcome!

I get tired of writing about spoilers lol.

I've done this so many times, with pictures and everything. Let me see if I can find these.

Here we go:

There are 3 OEM spoilers:
1. The flat one (surfboard)
2. The 00-05 pace car spoiler
3. The 06/07 stand-up spoiler.

1 and 3 are interchangeable as I will show with pictures, however 2 has completely different mounting points.

There is also 2 aftermarket spoilers, the Intimidator III which is discontinued and hard to find, this also fits on the surfboard mounting points. Then there is the Xenon spoiler which needs it's own mounting points drilled as well.

You have 4 holes in your spoiler that will need to get filled, and then you'll have to drill new mounting holes for the 00-05 stand-up spoiler. Plus repainting all the areas that the surfboard were touching.

The 06/07 SS spoiler is a DIRECT fit in the bolt holes, however some parts still show through from the surfboard damaging the trunk-lid so you would have to get it painted again.

Here's pictures from my swap.

Here you will see my beautiful surfboard that I hated:

Here's some damage that will be left over after the swap:

So you have to take the spoiler off and make some fixes and then get the trunklid repainated:

But then you have a beautiful new spoiler!!!

Then the back-end of the car looks much much better

Wow yeah, that looks great Chibi!! Impressive job! So if i wanted a direct fit i would need to be sure that the spoiler im getting is designed for an 06/07. They will paint it based on my color code but the only problem with that is, i bought touch up paint for my car before using the color code in the trunk BUT the outcome of the color is not the dark metallic grey like my car is instead it is the light metallic silver that you can see more on 06/07 monte SS's so im concerned of just sending them that color code!

Its some seller off of ebay, i live on long island which is where they are located so its pretty close. But now knowing what you said i dont know if this will work with my stock spoiler. It says it fits 2000-2007 but in a listing on amazon it says for 00-04. What do you think Chibi?

I know for a fact that is the 00-05 spoiler and they just say 00-07. It's not the one you are looking for.

Default Putting spoiler on

I have a 2005 Monte Carlo that never had a spoiler put on it, but I want to buy one now and put it on.
I think I am going to buy the one here:
JKS® - Chevy Monte Carlo 2000-2007 Factory Style Flush Mount Rear Spoiler

Now I have absolutely no clue how the installation would work. Is that something I can do myself or do I have to take it to somebody to get put on? I am assuming the spoiler is just screwed in but am not sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
