Yes... I am openning them up this spring for extra engine cooling...
It's completely personal preference. Some people love 'em, some people hate 'em. I personally prefer the SLP grille compared to the Crest. Some members have both SLP grilles (upper and lower) on their Montes which adds a sweet look imo! 
Also, if you plan to buy one, many people spray PlastiDip behind it so the car's paint color doesn't show through the grille.

The Lower SLP Grille is a discontinued part from SLP. It kept the same design and was just meant to change color of the lower grille non-permanently. Very few people actually have one. Many members here on the forum just painted the lower grille directly. Here's a car with a Lower SLP Grille:
