restoring a 1981 monte carlo

Default restoring a 1981 monte carlo

i just bought a 81 monte carlo and i wanna know what are the some of the first step i should take to restore it, im not doing a complete restore i just wann fix it up repaint it, switch the motor in it, new tires,wheels, fix the body up and do the inteior, only thing is i live in northern minnesota so i cant do alot in the winter cause i dont have a heated garage year round, any help would be great.

how are the floor boards and everything? your best bet would be to eliminate any existing rust so that you dont have that problem in the future after all the work is done

Welcome to the site. The motor and interior work won't depend on heat like body work would. Also if it's not a Daily driver you could star with disassembly. good luck with the resto.

floor boards are good , its got its typicall rust underneith nothing terrible, the body had a few rust spots but all are surfice rust.
