All this info is somewhere in this thread.
Hope this helps.
I just throw things out. If I mention something that helps, so be it. Since I am not there, and only see large pictures of small objects, my perspective is not the same as yours. Morrison has certainly been doing this a long time, and if you guys are into Pro Mod, certainly not your first rodeo. Just thought I would mention what could happen, and how it helped me to get a NHRA tech guy to tell us we were good on some "interpretations" of the rules. Good luck.

I always appreciate the input - and I if you forget something about the content of this thread - that's okay with me - reiterating things is a bit mind-refreshing - so go ahead and be helpful , I have at times actually brought some of the items you bring to my attention to the attention of my builder. I live by something my dad told me years ago - there are no stupid questions/inquiries/comments - for clarification - silence is what gets you in trouble - thanks for your ongoing help.

Thanks for the nice reply, considering I hjacked your thread for an intermission. When I see something I don't understand I just make a comment. Not being critical, just asking. I had a brand new rail built, and the guy left a huge opening in the back of the roll cage. I said this is not going to work. So he put a small bar there, but later NHRA mandated a tube the same size as the rest of the cage. These cars are sort of like airplanes, 99% of the time all is well,. but when it hits the fan, and something unexpected happens, is when you find out how prepared you are. When I crashed that same rail, it was because a series of events set things in motion, and as pilots say, keep ahead of the airplane. Well I didn't. I got behind, and convinced myself I had to try and make a pass when I should have been more patient and waited until the next day. Wadded up a brand new car. I did not cause the problem that got me behind, but I did not handle it the proper way. So hope things go well for you, and you are patient with your new baby. Shakedown passes, launches, 330's. 1/8, 990 - you know the drill. And never be afraid to get the chute out. They can be more for getting that butt straightened out than for stopping. Have fun.

Default Brake info

Just in case anyone is wondering. I don’t have a brake booster not because I have manual brakes. But because my brakes are electric. Sam

Thats cool! I thought that was more of a truck thing. Any other examples of electric brakes on race cars you can think of?

Default Electric brakes

I found out about electric brakes from the TV show Fathomworks on a resto-mod. I suggested it to my builder and now I have them. Must be good, I am seeing them on more and more applications. I guess you can put them on anything. Sam

Well every time I see the hours you are putting in I take solace that my repairs are minimal. Just bought this 06 LTZ and wanted to make it better because I plan to keep it. Ran into some unexpected problems, so now it has become like a race car. I am replacing every piece I can while everything is out of it. Besides needing a new throttle body, I had brake issues after replacing a starter (figure that one out). Finally ended up with new calipers. So had a bad leak underneath (don't they all?), and one guy said valve covers, another said oil pan. Turns out it was the front main seal just leaking like a sieve. The tranny was acting up too, so I bit the bullet and ordered another one, but the supply chain is broken. Taking a month to get here. So just went ahead and took the pan off and resealed it all, and put a new motor mount in (this one was saturated). Tranny was supposed to be here today at 12, but I am getting screwed and the LAST delivery of the day. Pan is back on (took it to a car wash and cleaned it, along with the front cradle last week). So I am having fun too.

Notice the one upgrade besides brakes. The solid 33mm sway bar from Doorman. Really helps the handling.

Default w-body upgrades

When I decided to do my first build - I took the front and rear sway bars off and put them on my daily driver a 2009 Impala. - I put on strut tower braces front and rear - up-graded the rear end links, Put on solid trailing arms and upgraded the struts both front and rear also. The car went from handling like a boat to a real improved driver. I also tied in the rear stamped sub-frame with a trailer hitch that made that rear area really solid - the hitch install took about 20 minutes and was well worth it. With all that I did the car became a real joy to drive. After 230,000 miles I got cut off and T-boned some young girl at 50 mph and made a mess of the car. That car was inexpensive to operate, a real joy to drive - I hated having to give it up - but the whole front end and doors were smashed beyond repair. I did that in 2019 and if I hadn't I would still be driving it today. I was really hoping to get 400.000 miles out of it. Well I have a Buick now - guess I will see how far I can get this with car. Still trying to find someone who sells a start/stop delete I can put on the car. My two dents (cents) for the day. Sam

I had a 2008 Lucerne CXL. When it was right I loved it, but a slew of electrical problems and the final; problem was a left hand vent door. First I could not find one, then when I did the quote to install it was $1200. Have to remove the entire dash to get to it. That was enough. I traded it towards my this 06 and was glad to be rid of it. I hope you have better luck.
