painting rims
Could it be possible to self paint the 16" alluminum rims? Say with caliper paint, engine paint? Or any other high gloss that will take the heat. I want to get my 01 pace car 16" rims to look like the Tony Stewart rims.
I just used regular spray paint. But I had to prep the wheels first. I sanded them to make a rough surface. Then I cleaned them real good. After that I primed them bout 2 times then applyed about 4 or 5 coats of paint. And they still aint peeled yet and is be months now

Who's primer? Who's paint? If yours is still holding up. Well I guess I should use it also. No brainer there. Thanks. Any other advise is always welcome from any of our fine members
Will it hold the heat? My driving habbits seam to heat things up a bit.

If I go with T.S. tipe wheels on a Grey and black monte, should I go with gray, black, or red calipers? Im thinking black to high light the rims.
Did the exact thing u want to do, be prepared to do a crap load of careful masking, and have a bunch of spare time haha :p
Mine turned out SUPERB!!! took me a whole day of masking and prepping the wheels!!

It was worth it tho
Check it out.....
First day I got the monte I installed my drilled and slotted rotors and painted my calipers.... Stock 16's lol

Then after a couple months of owing it and with the wheels painted....

The last pic I took before I sold it

Never seen it done but I can imagine them as pretty sharp
:p
