New Hood!

I got the new ram air hood for my birthday and it will be going on in spring..... does anyone know if they made "Ram air" badges I could put on the side of the scoop?

Enzo354 11-18-2009 05:28 PM

Put an SS on the grill. And yea just ebay for ram air or zzpdecals.

Jomao_o 11-18-2009 05:30 PM

Congrats, sadly we'll have to wait for the pics huh? :(

thumpingetocar06 11-18-2009 09:46 PM

Sadly yes, prob not until spring due to our lovely WI winters. But I will post some asap!
Thanks Enzo!

JAFO 11-19-2009 04:28 AM

Congrats on the hood *jealousy sets in*, might also check reflectiveconcepts.com It's licensed by GM so you can get ram air decals (overlays actually) from most if not all past GM models. If you don't see it on the web site e-mail Matt and he'll help you out.

ChibiBlackSheep 11-19-2009 08:14 AM

I think the hood itself says "ram air" and that you don't need a badge saying it :P

The hood scoop is just sooo clean, no need to ruin it ;)

Congrats on the purchase, it'll be nice when I can start buying those kinds of things for my Monte. Everytime I save up enough, it goes elsewhere like brakes / rotors, or tires, transmission, or a new front cradle....

RickAKATed10 11-19-2009 10:49 AM

I wish the 06+ hoods weren't so ugly... Congrats on your purchase.

This just in. Mr. Burns is ugly, direct quote from his owner.

Oh did you mean aftermarket hoods? You should have specified :) :)

monte07 11-19-2009 11:37 AM

i think the stock hood for the 06-07 are ugly and the ram hood for them are good looking :):)

MAMONTE 11-19-2009 12:15 PM

I agree with Rick, the AFTERMARKET hood for the 06-07 is ugly IMO.

ChibiBlackSheep 11-19-2009 12:25 PM

RickAKATed10 11-20-2009 10:02 AM

ChibiBlackSheep 11-20-2009 10:08 AM

Last time I saw / heard of the duraflex one it wasn't fully functional.

Can you take a shot of the bottom side??

thumpingetocar06 11-20-2009 10:24 AM

From what I've read on the duraflex spyder, theres is a kit that can be purchased to make it a functional air intake,, requires mods to the basic hood. I really do like the hood featured on PFYC but even on sale the price is a bit much....It will be interesting to see the fit of the glass hood..Did you recieve it color matched or primer coat?

thumpingetocar06 11-20-2009 03:56 PM

Primared for $350 and $150 for shipping, so 500 total plus paint.

Jomao_o 11-20-2009 10:02 PM

RickAKATed,

You Monte would look awesome with a mr. Burns decal!
The simpsons paint scheme in the black backdrop of you Monte...*dreams* aww what a beauty, some day i just might put a Homer decal on mine!
It could go in the rear end, just a thought.

Photoshop that picture you posted on your rear end and we'll see how it looks? huh? huh? lol

thumpingetocar06 11-23-2009 04:29 PM

Ok so I got the new hood today nad you guys were right.... its NOT a ram air hood but I am going to make it into one, which can easily be done! :)

nemesis 11-23-2009 06:14 PM

let see some pic

2003supersport 11-23-2009 06:44 PM

check fitment of it. hopefully it fits better right off the bat then mine did from pfyc. fiberglass molds can be such a pain to get fitted right. always bowes. took mine about $400 to get prepped for a decent fit, still slightly bowed on the front corners. would've cost about $700-$800 for a great fit. definately wanna see pics of it on, i was interested in that hood but after reading reviews, i decided on the pfyc hood. wasnt into the extra side vents. its a unique hood though, grats with the purchase!

Thumper check with the shop where it was purchased to see if they have the kit that makes it functional. I was checking out Andy's customs for bod mods and he sells your hood and makes referance to the kit. I agree tho you should be able to cut yours and form a tunnel below directing it to the intake box...sheetmetal,fiberglass or alluminumand some bad axx apoxy!!!!!!!!!!!sniffy. I was looking at that very hood along with others but I may run down to the pick-n-pull and grab a stock hood grab a couple side scoops take it down to the High school and let the auto/fab shop design one . My next door neighbor was a H.S.classmate of mine and now teaches auto shop at the H.S. so a freebe and the kids earn credit....:p

No high schools in Chi town? How do they ever fill the chop shops....

thumpingetocar06 11-24-2009 10:14 AM

Ok I will take pics when i get home, But it sure looks like I could make a thin aluminum ram air to the intake. Im also going to fit the hood this wknd and hopefully it works better that its not fiberglass, but I will also let you guys know! Thanks!

No stickers on Mr. Burns... Unless they're flat black racing stripes.

Back on topic.
