Cool My 88 ss

Hey everyone I'm new on here, names Joe. I got an 88 SS 2 owner car but kept in the family until me. When the son in law (2nd owner) got it he had it repainted however when i bought the car he tell me that there is no primer underneath the paint... so now my quarter and door panels are just rusting away slowly but surely. I was wondering if anyone knew where to get a new steel (unless you guys reccomend other wise) panels at a cheaper price being 19 and going to college.

Welcome to the MCF Joe... And so fate brings you an 88 Monte Carlo SS. How bad is that, heck yeah. I'm no help on your generation of Monte's. many members on here are very familiar with you Monte, and can possibly steer you in the right direction.

You can take a quick look over at Dixie MC Depot

Dixie Monte Carlo Depot

There's a few others but I can't remember off hand the names. Like Greg said we have quite a few members on here that are more fluent with the 4th gens that'll be able to help you once they see this post.

I am sure they are available for such a popular car. Just because no primer is used isn't an issue, as I am sure its not original paint anyways. So there is paint under there and as long as you aren't seeing metal you are good. If it is just rusted out badly, I would find some. Check inside the trunk down in lower area of wheel well where they meet.

I've got two doors I'm selling. They are gutted (shell) and had been sandblasted with no primer or paint but can be resanded by a body shop. Wheel wells are going to run you a lot I've seen some rear quarter panels go for 650! Let me know if you want to see pics of the doors, give you a deal.
