Default Monte SS rear spoiler sand/paint

I just bought a 88 lay-down rear spoiler, should be here Monday/Tuesday. Its white, and I want to sand it down and paint/prime it?.
I really want to just sand it down (I guess?), and spray over with maybe 2 coats of some flat black paint. Should hold up, at least for the time being, until whole car gets primed.

Thoughts or How-To's on how to do this?

if do chips in the paint sand it with 400 and paint it with SEM trim black (semi gloss) you can pre wash with 3812 enamal reducer.

after the 400 i would do something that's a little more fine, like 1000 so there are no marks or textures in the paint
